Exceptionally special circa 1880s Antique solid 14K with higher karat 18K wash hand engraved vesta case featuring a gorgeous intricate scene of a jeweled spider in its web with a nearby jeweled fly set with natural emerald, ruby and old mine cut diamonds. Back has a gorgeously engraved set of “AR” initials in a swirly font style. Hinge top operates smoothly and securely. Match striker on the bottom of the case.
Measures 2.5 inch long x 1.37 inch wide x .7 inch thick. In very good preowned condition for a jewel that would have served a functional purpose when it was made as a match case. High karat wash is intact. The case has one small dent on the top corner of the lid and some surface marks on a lower corner area. These do not obstruct any of the engraving of this amazing jeweled case. Weighs 25.6 grams.
Addition of a loop and bale to hang the case as a pendant can be done separately by our bench (ask for quote) to whatever orientation the buyer wants
