A beautiful Vintage yellow 14K rutilated quartz cabochon pendant with squared prongs. Measures 26.4 mm long x 15 mm wide and weighs over 3.8 grams. Bale opening is over 6.2 mm. Very good preowned condition.
The rutiles present in rutilated quartz are due to inclusions of titanium oxide. Rutilated quartz has a 6-7.5 hardness on the Mohs scale, making it hard and scratch resistant.
The rutiles look like a thread of gold running through the stone. Historically it was referred to by names like angel’s hair, Flèches D'amour (arrows of love), and ‘hair of Aphrodite’ (by the Greeks). It is known as a cleansing stone that aids emotional clarity.
