A beautiful sculptural vintage 14K gold statement pendant with a rutilated quartz cabochon dangle at the end for extra movement. A large eye catching size at 3 inch long x 1.1 inch widest. Weighs 7.6 grams. Fabulous on a long chain or on a collar necklace. In excellent preowned vintage condition.
The rutiles present in rutilated quartz are due to inclusions of titanium oxide. Rutilated quartz has a 6-7.5 hardness on the Mohs scale, making it hard and scratch resistant. The rutiles look like a thread of gold running through the stone and historically it was referred to by names like angel’s hair, Flèches D'amour (arrows of love), and ‘hair of Aphrodite’ (by the Greeks). It is known as a cleansing stone that aids emotional clarity.
